Divya Shiksha Gurukul College of Education organized a Paper Making Activity on 12/07/18 (Thursday). The theme of the activity was “Say No to Polythene Bags”. The main objective of this activity was to make students and people aware of the adverse effects of polythene bags on environment, human beings and animals. Dr. Gurpeet Singh, Hon'able Chairman UGI said "Polythene is harmful for our environment. It must be stop to save our planet.”He said that polythene is bio-non-degradable product and can't be eliminated without damaging the environment. Prof Sharanjeen Singh Dhillon, Campus Director ,UGI made the students about the fact that when eatables are carried in polythene bags , the chemicals used to make them get mixed with them. So, polythene bags make the food items poisonous. If the animals chew them, it go to their abdomen and cause them severe pain and most of the time becomes a strong reason for their deaths. He further added instead of these plastic bags, people must use bags made of cloth, paper and jute.During the activity Principal Dr. Kompal Wadhawan addressed the students to motivate them for such types of eco friendly activities to keep clean & healthy environment. Students made Paper Bags with the help of Handmade Sheets, Charts, & waste Materials. After that students distributed the Paper Bags in Various departments of Universal group of Institutions and among villagers.
