NSS Unit of the Divya Shiksha Gurukul College of Education, Ballopur, Lalru celebrated NSS Foundation Day. Principal of the college Dr. Kompal Wadhawan was the chief guest. She stressed upon the students to get enrolled in NSS in large numbers. The function was organized under the supervision of Ms. Aarti Bhatt and Dr. Surina Sharma NSS Programme Officers. A large number of NSS volunteers attended the function during which the programme officer gave details of aims and objectives of this scheme and the activities being undertaken by the Units. A Power Point Presentation highlighting the activities of NSS volunteers was also made on this occasion. To commemorate the foundation day of NSS, volunteers in the morning session practised Yoga and later in the afternoon prepared paper bag using chart paper and handmade sheet to raise public awareness regarding the polythene ban and to make the the campus polythene free. NSS volunteers interacted with the other students of the campus over the pollution issue. They explained the harmful effects of polythene like environment degradation to people. To make campus pollution free volunteers use every mode of communication to run an effective anti-polythene awareness drive among the masses”.  Dr. Gurpreet Singh, Chairman UGI on the occasion said such drives are essential to raise public awareness about the harmful effects of polythene. Dr. Kompal Wadhawan, Principal DSGCE on the occasion congratulated students and staff for the great effort and also on the occasion said if use of plastic is avoided; a major pollution problem could be reduced to a great extent he said. Bags were also distributed in the campus.
